Product Fault
16th April, 2008
I was working through the final edit of the novel last night and it occurred to me that a novel is never entirely finished is it? I mean there is always something more that could be tweaked.
And I was wondering what would happen if once the novel is published I decide that I fancy tinkering a little more with some of the chapters... would they let me do a product recall do you think?
You know, send letters to all the purchasers and ask that they kindly bring them in to Tonto Books offices where I would be waiting with my pen and some correction fluid?
They do it with cars don't they? Or lead poisoned childrens' toys? So I think there should be a clause in my publishing contract that says that even after the customer has bought their copy that I have the right to change it - at any time.
And while I'm there maybe I could add a little secret track at the end... in invisible ink, written backwards.
Like the novel finishes...there follow twenty blank pages...and only the true devotees who keep turning, keep waiting, finally find a little special one off chapter - just between me and them.
Hmmm...
The possibilities are endless
