1991

17th March, 2008

So, the second draft of Everything You Ever Wanted has travelled through the internet to Caroline and now I can sit back and blog for a few days and remember what my real life is like.

Everything You Ever Wanted is set in the summer of 1991 when Bryan Adams was number one for sixteen weeks.  It's been really good fun researching 1991, and I am ever thankful for the charms of google and wikipedia.  I'm also struck by the similarities between now and 17 years ago.

Travel with me if you will to a world where Kylie Minogue is a pop star, President Bush is waging war on Iraq, girls wear tights under their cut off demin shorts and kids are taking E tabs.  It's kind of unrecognisable isn't it.

So, not only do I have to pretend to be in the wierd and wonderful world of 1991, but I also have to inhabit the bodies of Tiggy and Scarlett. Now this is the best bit about writing.  For six hours the other day I was either a beautiful, fit and slightly neurotic 21 year old Stripper - or an angry and stunning man hating murderous hooker.

Oh and I look fantastic in a mini skirt!

It is so nice not to have to worry about middle age spread, mortage payments and whether my cats like me.

Oh happy days, maybe I should stick in 1991. xxx
